About Me

I've been developing software professionally for almost twenty years.

I'm currently the lead developer at the UC Berkeley AMPLab: a five-year collaborative effort involving students, researchers and faculty from a wide swath of computer science and data-intensive application domains. I'm interested in using "Big Data" systems to solve problems in Computational Genomics.

Previously, I worked as a member of the Cloudera Engineering team during the company's first four formative years. At Cloudera, I did the seminal work on CDH, built the early Operations and Build/Release teams and helped design and create multiple components of Cloudera Manager.

I founded the Ganglia project in 2000 which has been going strong for over a decade. Look for the O'Reilly book on Ganglia on bookshelves now.

For fun, I like to run ultras and marathons, snowboard and solve Project Euler problems.
